Modem works, Internet doesnot??

Don't mean to steal the thread, but I'm having a similar problem. I'm
trying to setup wvdial.conf. I type in my isp's phone#, my login and
password. I then save, Ctrl-o, and exit. But when I try to dial, sudo
wvdial, it says there is no isp, login, password in the file. 
Anyone got any ideas how I'm messing this up? 
It may be that I saved that file the very first time without all the
info, but I'd think after adding the proper info, and saving it again,
it would now be there?
