Package: gtk2-engines-gtk-qt
Version: 0.60-1.1ubuntu4
Severity: important
I almost thought the GTK+ guys had lost their mind until I
understood that the problem comes from the gtk-qt engine bridge
package. This package has at least two issues.
- inverted sliders do not work.
The theme engine fails to handle sliders whose value increase in
opposite direction from usual. (gtk_range_set_inverted()). It seems
that you have to move the mouse down and the slider goes up. The
initial positon of the slider is all wrong. This is the reason I
classify this bug as "important".
- visual glitch in regular textfields. They appear raised instead of
lowered.
The GUIs rendered this way look inconsistent -- some fields are
raised and some are lowered. You can see this in firefox or thunderbird,
the main GTK+ applications I use. For instance, thunderbird's reply
window looks especially strange with subject raised and the rest
lowered. This can't be right.
The theme engine in use may affect matters. I use the klearlook engine.
At the moment, a good workaround is to build a package with equivs and
replace the dependency to this package with a fake package that supplies
no files.
In addition, while attempting to report this bug via reportbug facility, I
obtained a "relay not permitted" error from lists.debian.org.
Report will be sent to "Ubuntu Bug Tracking System"
