I think one should give time to see if this line of decision really pays
off. If this is what distribution creators wanted, let's see whether it has
potential to make any difference. Surely it cannot be expected to happen in
mere < 2 years.

You're right about that.

Does anyone seriously think any apt sysadmin would just blindly trust that
things work as they always have, especially after version changes? If that's
the case, that said sysadmin *should* be fired. No questions asked.
