Yes - but a "full hardware serial connection modem" (USB modems *might*
be full hardware, but it seems most USB modems have problems or are
difficult to set up in Linux)
I have a serial modem ( quite old Acer "Surf" ) connected to /dev/ttyS0.
No drivers required, just works...
Such modems are becoming increasingly rare, however, as people switch to
broadband.
