Seems worth trying. But I don't know what command to run that has the 
-scanpci option. The man page wasn't clear about that. When I want to 
start the X server I run 'startx' or 'gdm' and those don't have a 
-scanpci option.

What do you mean? Just make up a different BusID? Or can I actually 
assign one?
