NEVER use as backup folder the / !!!
Hi,
today I tried to use sbackup; I installed and ran it;
then I selected 'Filesystem' from Destination tab.
This MADE MY SYSTEM UNACCESSIBLE !!!!
Everything stopped immediately to work when I clicked
'Backup NOW'; I rebooted and I found that I could not
log in any more in my system except with ROOT user.

reading the thread
great...give it a try
it appears the same thing, or something like it, as shown above happened to me.
it filled up the hard disk and will not reboot
tried Knoppix and deleted some junk to free up some space
still will not start
the solution i found:
>So I logged as root and chmod to 755 my root folder.
>That worked.
is beyond my ability and i think i just hosed my system trying to make
a backup. :(
so, the only viable option for me is reinstall and say good-bye to
what i was backing up. all i can say, from using ubuntu for six
months, is the default settings of a program really should not do bad
things like that.
