[Breezy] Firefox pdf plugin not working

Hi all,

How can I open embedded pdf files in Firefox? Currently when I click on 
a link to a pdf file in a web page, the page seems to open (the URL is 
right), but Firefox displays a blank page.

It's a Breezy system, with a standard Firefox 1.0.8. I installed 
acroread, mozilla-acroread, and acroread-plugins, and restarted Firefox, 
but it still doesn't work. What am I missing? (Evince would be fine as 
well, I have no idea whether there's a firefox plugin for it).
