I upgraded my Dapper Beta desktop last weekend, and the latest kernel,
(Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.15-21-686), will not boot!
Kernel starts loading
"Mounting the root file system..."
"Waiting for root file system..."
I wait for around 3+ minutes, then I'm dropped to a shell, with the error
message;
"Unable to find volume group "Ubuntu""
"ALERT! /dev/mapper/Ubuntu-root does not exist. Dropping to shell!"
...which then starts BusyBox and leaves me at the prompt.
Error messages state that the Volume Group can't be found.
(Nothing to do with the splash screen).
However, when I reboot and run the previous kernel, 2.6.15-20-686, no
problems with booting, at all. (OK, .... in the same spot, a 15 second delay
before mounting the file system, but then everything works)!
I haven't seen any email about this.
Am I the only one affected?
