Mouse not working.....

Hello all...



WOW I am pretty exceited.  I went to my first Linux conference today
and picked up my first distro of Linux.  I think I like it so far but I
cannot get my mouse to work.  I have a similar problem as this other
person has.  I see the mouse pointer, but cannot move it from its
location in the middle of the screen.  When a window appeard underneath
the mouse it does react, but I cannot move it or click with it.



I am testing Ubuntu 5.1 on an old machine (PIII 500mHz) and am using a
serial mouse.  The only information on the mouse I can give you is
Chuang Feng Electronics Ltd. Model MD-311.  I know...I have never heard
of this manufacturer either.



Any help would be greatly appreciated.
