You are better off with a router than a hub. Get a 4-port router and
you'll automatically share internet without any fiddling about. The
cable modem connects to the router, and the router connects to the 4
computers. It will hand off dynapic IPs through DHCP. Ubuntu will pickup
the IPs automatically and you'll all be able to access the internet.
Not only is the router less hassle, but it's also more reliable than any
other option. Buy a 4-port router (I like D-Link and Neatgear ones).
