Although not technically PC compatible, the new macs become so when
bootcamp is used.  This is not a slew of drivers and patches, but
simply a BIOS emulation utility from apple.



Bootcamp does also makes a driver cd, but this is just the same as that
provided with most laptops, since windows doesn't support all hardware,
video acceleration or the multitude of non standard laptops out there.
You only need to know this when reinstalling windows on a laptop since
they come preinstalled.  Even without the driver cd, windows functions
fine, just without support for wireless and video hardware - hardware
which is bog standard intel/ati and used in hundreds of laptops.
