CUPS not printing via ipp: protocol

I have a very similar problem. I have a Samsung ML-1520 connected
through usb to my desktop, and my laptop connected to the desktop with
a cross cable. After last upgrade I lost the ability to print on the
Samsung from the laptop. Every time I try to print something the led
blinks and the printer prints an error page.
>From the desktop it works fine. So I made a little test. With the
printer turned off, I send the same pdf file for printing from the
laptop and the desktop, then looked at /var/spool/cups. I noticed that
the temporary files are different. The local one is the same pdf file I
sent for printing, the remote one is identified by "file" as "HP Printer
Job Language data".
