Why 6.06.1 ?

Because Dapper will be supported until 2009 on the desktop and 2011 on
the server. In the meantime there will be many other releases. The next
one will be 6.10 (current codename 'Edgy Eft') and it will be very
different from 6.06 - more experimental, newer stuff. So will be the
following release, probably 7.04. Then 7.10, etc.

6.06,x needs to coexist with those and be distinguishable.
