Hi, I'm not sure if this will fix it, but I had the same problem on my
computer and it did, so it's worth a try and it won't damage your
computer if it doesn't work.
When you get the grub menu hit e to edit the ubuntu entry, then edit the
kernel line. At the end of the kernel line append "reboot=h" and then
continue booting (press b I think). Try shutting down or restarting. If
it works you can edit /boot/grub/menu.list and change the kernel lines
permanently.
