I think it is quite clear: there is no question about compartmentalising
different types of technical support. If a user has a problem with
Ubuntu, they can ask about it here and get help. The change in the
list-id simply represents the policy that discussion of Ubuntu which
does not involve "getting technical help" can take place on the
discussion list, which is and has always been sounder at lists.ubuntu.com

Two points on this:
1) Choosing an appropriate mailing list is always part of sending an
email. People don't send emails (or letters) without thinking about the
recipient. The reason for selecting an appropriate mailing list is
*always* because sending your email to the best mailing list for the
subject is the best way to ensure that it will be seen by the people who
are best equipped to answer it.
2) "Take that to sounder" or "take that to ubuntu-users" are messages
that we continuously see anyway, not just here and on sounder, but on
almost all the Ubuntu lists. The change in list-id doesn't reflect a
change in policy, or a change in how that policy should be applied. As
far as I can see there is no reason for people to stop pointing out in a
nice way the appropriate mailing list for discussion. All that it means
is that the list-id now reflects the policy.
