Have a look.

When you save a document, OpenOffice will show you the intended 'save' 
location in its save dialogue.

If you want to change this setting, you can do so from within OpenOffice; from 
the 'Tools' menu, choose 'options',  then 'OpenOffice.org', 'Path' and change 
the path for 'My Documents'.
