Kernel broken after update.

Hi Everybody,

Last week, I'have updated my Ubuntu box. After that, the first kernel
entry on Grub list was "broken". During the initialization steps, I got
the following message:

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Begin: Initializing /dev ...
    Segmentation Fault
    Done

    Begin: Runing /scripts/init-premount

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My system didn't start my vg (vg00) and my lvm wasn't found.

Unpacking "initrd.img-2.6.12-10-686" and editing the "init" file, I
found exactaly where this error occours:

    # Populate /dev tree
    log_begin_msg "Initializing /dev"
    parse_numeric ${ROOT}
    udevstart
    log_end_msg

Using kernel "vmlinuz-2.6.12-9-386" my box goes up perfectaly.

Does anyone know how can I solve this problem?

I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks everybody.
