I got a HP pavillion K121.at and ubuntu ran perfect from the beginning.
No troubles installing it, only problem with hoary was that I haven't
had sound with xawtv after the install. So I found out this wasn't a
machine specivivic problem, it was just turned off in hoary by default
for good reasons ;-)

I didn't wanted to run an update to Breezy, because this also lead to
troubles on my Powerbook Pismo, so I did a fresh install, not a big
deal, havn't made much customization on that maschine till that day and
have a sperate /home partition. Also worked perfect.

So I gotta say I did CDROM installs and updates via internet.

But it can be true that some maschines from HP don't work with different
distributions, but it can also be that it doesn't like install DVD,
because before I tried Ubuntu I wanted to use Fedora Core and the
install DVD alsways got stuck at some point in the beginning.

Hope this helps,

Rainer
