You will probably have a network connection monitor applet on one of
your panels. It looks like two computer monitors that blink when you
send/receive packets. Clicking on it will give you a little window that
shows some information about that connection. Click on the "Support"
tab, and you'll see your IP address as well as your MAC address.
If you are using the unsupported network-manager package, you'll have an
icon in your system tray, which you can right click on to get
"connection information" which will also display your IP address.
And of course you can always run ifconfig from a command line. I
personally like to press Alt-F2 and type this:
/usr/lib/xscreensaver/apple2 -text -program 'ifconfig'
