Where you post (top/within the body/bottom) is really at the option of the poster.  It a matter of courtesy to others as to "bottom" posting and how much you snip and keep in the reply.  I don't like particularly having to scroll through lots of text just to get to the reply but then you may miss the context of the reply in stuff that might have been snipped out.
