Thanks for the suggestion.  I had given up on using this some time ago as it was not always
working, but it seems to work in Breezy.  A least it works to the extent of cycling through
the resolutions, but does not get the preferred refresh rate (the highest rate gives screen
artifacts).  Unfortunately I don't know how to exclude default modes in xorg.conf or prevent
<ctrl><alt><NB+> selecting the highest refresh rate.
