WEP encryption does not work

Hi Stephen,
The fact is that my router encrypts WEP
perfectly,because I can connect to it with windoz$,
with the key Ive input, and if I don't, the modem does
not allow connexion.
The point is that my router does not give an IP to
ubuntu with this same key.
When I make iwconfig, I notice that the key is
displayed with a dash each 4 characters... while there
are none in realty.
