If you want to add items to totem's playlist then just type: totem 
--enqueue movie1 movie2 movie3 etc. To add items to xine's playlist 
type: xine --enqueue movie1 movie2 movie3 etc. To add items to MPlayer's 
playlist you can do so graphically. Select MPlayer from the Applications 
menu (or type gmplayer in the terminal) and right click on the box with 
the video inside it and select playlist, from there it's pretty intuitive.
