What modems work with Ubuntu?

I stand corrected. My only experience with a PCI modem was several years 
ago. The clerk at the local store told me that he got the same modem 
running on his linux box (ISTR he had some version of RedHat) without 
any difficulty. Maybe so, but I couldn't get it to like my installation 
(Mandrake 9.something), so I bought a Zoom external modem and passed the 
PCI card on to my son (Win98SE -- don't ask).
