What modems work with Ubuntu?

Invalid analogy. Writing a software modem is like 1000x more work than
writing a driver for a hardware modem, IF we even have access to the
hardware specs needed to write one. Whereas the razor guy could just as
easily make razors that run on 110V or 220V.
