Getting a hard drive icon off the desktop

Ubuntu Users,

I can find all sorts of options and help for desktop backgrounds,
themes, icons... but I can't find this one specific adjustment.

On my desktop is an icon for my second hard drive, called "hda1",
sitting in the top left corner. I don't want it there. It's a permanent
hard drive, which I can access by going to Places | Hda1, which is good
enough for me.

I like it when DVDs/CDs appear as icons on my desktop when I insert
them into a drive. And I like my SD memory cards coming up as icons.
Basically, anything that's a removable or temporary drive I like to have
an icon on my desktop.

The hda1 drive is a permanent fixture, and well... for whatever
reason, it kind of bugs me having it there.

But I can't find any way of not having it there. Surely there's a
way...?

Any advice or help would be much appreciated.
