Scrap the previous... This seriously broke stuff... :)
However, just adding
deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu dapper main restricted
and apt-get update && apt-get install xserver-xorg is working. But I have a
feeling I will end up with a pretty unstable system mixing repositories like
this. I have read somewhere before where you can mix reps for different
version of the same packages, but I don't remember how that worked.
Something for another day...
