One very important thing that must be done BEFORE starting to install
any other operating system is to defragment your windows installation.
Repeat a few times until you see that all your Windows data is compacted
as much as possible so that you'll space to install your
new operating system without overwriting any part of your current
Windows.
Other than that, ubuntu almost installs itself if choose the 'default'
installation. You'll reach a point where you have to create what is
known as the / partition. This is the main part of the installation.
Start it where your Windows partition ends Make it at least 3 GB.
Also. make a partition for 'swap'...about 250-500 megabytes is OK. When
both of these areas on the partition display have a symbol that you
don't see anywhere else, it means that they're ready for formatting.
Just continue following the instructions and that will start the package
installation. This will take quite a while.
Later, you'll have to set the clock, name a user and assign a password,
Just follow onscreen instructions from there.;
Good luck, alex
partition and also a swap
