It seems some of those pesky old Windozisms just don't wash out so easily!

FWIW, my other laptop is NetBSD only (Fluxbox), and the Ubuntu one
also boots NetBSD (Xfce4). (OK, it has Windows XP on it too but I
basically don't use it.)
