Server comments

   I agree. Those are what I call appliances. (webservers etc). They should 
be kept. I guess I'm asking for an addition category. All of this can be 
done manually or course. But if I could select a 'business server or 
'application server' as opposed to server (which I see as a much needed 
appliance install), it would make life easier.

   To whoever is reading this from the ubuntu team, DONT remove the current 
server install.

Please keep the Desktop seperate. OP, since you are aware of sudo:

sudo apt-get install [k|u|x]buntu-desktop

As far as "Dont make a server install compatible with computers that you
have in your closet" The server install installs a 686 kernel out of
the box (as opposed to 386, for x86 systems). I much prefer the slim
server install, add what I want afterward, php. mysql-server,
lighttpd...
