Hey Brian,

This might be overkill if you're only ever going to need it one time, but
I find it handy: I see you're using Thunderbird.  You might want to just
create a newsgroup account and point it at GMANE.  Thunderbird will then
allow you to reply to the GMANE newsgroup posts.

In the Thunderbird's menus go to "Account Settings" and "Add Account"
Choose Newsgroup account and tell it the NNTP server is news.gmane.org
Most of the rest of it is fairly straightforward.  From there, you can
then "subscribe" to groups like "gmane.linux.ubuntu.users, which is a
mirror of this mailing list.

(GMANE also mirrors/gateways the email as RSS feeds.)
