memory limit for hibernation?

sorry, perhaps I shouldn't have opened my mouth.  I use swsusp2 because
the old suspend option DIDN'T work for me.  THe OP said something about
an "older version of suspend2" being used in ubuntu, and I just wanted
to clarify.

It COULD be that you have in fact run up against a limitation of the
old suspend -- something I know little about, partly because it's not
actively maintained, or hasn't been until very very recently -- in
which case upgrading your kernel is probably a good idea.
alternativley there may be some other solution thatlets you keep
workingwith suspend1, but again, I don't know that.  

you can also try just using the acpi suspend-to-disk option if your
laptop supports acpi.  However you will needto somehow construct
arescue partition etc., which I don't knwo howto do.
