_that_ was likely a result of kernel changes. It bit everybody around
2.6.8, then after you figured out how to fix that they reverted to the old
system around 2.6.12
Some broken apps after upgrade is possible - though if you stick to the
current stable version (ie, breezy for now) of Ubuntu, that shouldn't
happen. It was the idea that adept would completely mess up KDE that
didn't sound right.
To keep your system stable, you should have: breezy, breezy-security (for
security updates) and breezy-updates (for other bug fixes) in your
sources.list. Anything else is suspect.
