Amarok crashes, complains about kmail

What happens if you try it as a different user? Create a "test" user and
add that user to the same groups as your usual user (obviously "audio" is
one of the important groups here) , the rest might look like
test (or whatever you call the new user) adm dialout cdrom floppy audio
dip video plugdev lpadmin scanner
The reasoning is that it might be an issue with some of the user's dot
files .
If the new user "works" at least you can move any amarok or kde related
dot files out of the way and see if that helps. Seems an odd error message.
