Hp Scanjet 8290

I have a Hp Scanjet 8290.

According to the sane support scanners list it is supported by the
avision back end.

I have ensured that this back end is not commented out
in /etc/sane.d/dll.conf. (At the moment this is the only back end not
commented)

I have run sane-find-scanner which gives the following

<snip>
found USB scanner (vendor=0x03f0, product=0x0b01) at libusb:005:006
  # Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not be
supported by
  # SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage.
<snip>

However scanimage -L gives

steven at steven-dsk:/etc/sane.d$ sudo scanimage -L
No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).

I have tried adding the following line to avision.conf

usb libusb:005:006

but this does not seem to help.

I note that the scanimage takes about 45sec to return.

Has anyone got any advice as to how to get this working.

Thank you
Steven
