mounting NFS shares

Ok, I changed the UID and GID for my account on the Ubuntu box to 500, which
was a PITA, but NFS now works using mount on the command line.

According to the man page for mount, there are paramters one can supply to
set the UID and GID but I couldn't get this to work.

In any case, I'd like to set up these shares to mount automatically, but
since I am doing so on a laptop, which may not always be connected to the
LAN, it would be nice to use autofs, so if anyone has any suggestions...
