Thats what I thought, but I think they are using some sort of MAC
address based IP restriction. (I can only have one MAC address
connected, and my IP address has remained 'static' before)

Apologies for my vagueness; I connect using the ethernet network card
(Apple iBook G4), its an internal (ethernet) network.
