calibrate printers colours

Thanks for the pointer, sadly that isn't quite working, or something is 
odd. The fields for specifying media type, media source, ink type and 
resolution are all greyed out. Of course what I _want_ to do is have a 
working set of colour calibration rules for each media. It looks like I 
could do that with virtual printers - but it's no use if I can't tell it 
which media I'm trying to print on.

Any ideas?

PS: Gimp seems to actually have stopped printing all together - 
everything else prints fine...
