default root pwd for base system install?

It's surely very important for enterprises. At same time, according to 
diverse professionals/developers the fact of not keeping a root console 
opened all the time is also very important for security, when connecting 
the web, and also to avoid wrong action in the console. Danger from 
outside, danger from inside: the 'chair bug'.

So be it for large enterprises or for lonely users, sudo is better 
anyhow. Then what I sayed must be understood this way: some former Unix 
machines confirmed users have comunicated about the use of sudo, that 
was employed systematically by professional users in computer research , 
and later on the 'su' tool became of general use. This man said it had 
been a mistake to make it a constant use tool.
As the Ubuntu distribution came back to the generalisation of sudo use, 
we can observe that a former habbit is being renewed.

Do you know some tasks that cannot be accomplished with 'sudo' ? There 
might be some, but I didn't meet with them yet, except maybe once I was 
on a kill problem and the process refused to close. As I insisted on 
commands progressively more hard: kill; kill -9; sudo kill; sudo kill 
-9; killall theapp, and nothing responded I ended with a su to get a 
root console.

It did the trick, but I am still not sure why. Maybe some parent 
processes that I couldn't see needed to be killed too ? (Mostover I was 
in a hurry to end a task, and to recover the frozen GUI).

So, are there specific tasks that cannot be performed with only sudo ?
