OSX or Ubuntu? -Slow installs-

For slow installs I recommand cleaning the lens of your CD or DVD 
device, the one you use to install, and do the install again once done.
That's been good for me, that's been good for someone I advised this 
month, on the list. Otherwise it may be the hard not fit for the distro, 
but this you can check at least with a great deal of accureness with a 
Hoary or a Breezy live CD first. Then if the hard is not fit, try 
elsewere ? Suse, or BSD, or whatsoever ? Tux family is large enough ;)
