About Nautilus + Gthumb usability in Ubuntu 5.10

Odd. Here on Breezy if I click a picture it opens by itself in eog. If I
choose "Open with gthumb" it opens on the left, with the other
picruresfrom that directory in the right hand pane.
On the other hand, right clicking the ~/pictures directory icon and
choosing "open with eog" opens the dir in full, with browsable images in
the bottom pane. Doing the same with gthumb also opens a full directory
view, but without any image in the preview pane.
So perhaps it is more qusetion of how each app is configured?
