Turning that question around:
How would a new user know that other Linux distributions are
different from Ubuntu?
Assuming the current perceived trend continues, Ubuntu will fairly soon
become the most widely deployed desktop Unix after Mac OSX.
Incidently, ...Mac OSX uses sudo aswell. It does not mention anything to
users about a 'root password' because none of them would know what one is;
...the same is the case with K/Ubuntu.
