Really, DHCP is a Very Good Thing (TM).  If you want your computer to always
get the same IP, configure _that_ in the DHCP settings.  I'm pretty sure
the stock Linksys supports that (They call it "Static DHCP"!).  There's no
reason why you should need a static IP on your computer unless it's a
server, but if it is, let the DHCP server set it and then you get all the
additional benefits (DNS, Gateways, possibly WINS) automatically.
