Tower, wireless, Live DVD - help needed

Let's try this again:
   I've put a wireless card into my tower. I'm running the live DVD of
kubuntu, which I burned a couple of months ago. My wireless card is a
D-Link 520G, with an Atheros chipset. I do the modprobe ath_pci, and
that's fine... but then I can't bring up ath0.

On the DVD, there's neither wpa_supplicant or wlanconfig.

So, any pointers? I've tried what I found on the 'Net - editing
/etc/network/interfaces, iwconfig, and no joy with anything.

Anyone got clues?
