vmware palyer hangs upon startup

I tried installing with synaptic to reproduce your bug and I got the 
same error but the vmplayer window opened . I noticed that the file 
/usr/lib/vmware-player/lib/libpng12.so.0/libpng12.so.0 doesn't exist, it 
should be replace by /usr/lib/vmware-player/lib/libpng12.so.0 which does 
exist. So that's a vmware-player package bug. You should report it 
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/.

I'll try installing the vmware.com version and see what happens.
