I'm wondering if this could be an English problem. The OP clearly has
troubles with it at both high and low levels of expression.
If he said "users want to stay free" he'd be 100% accurate as long as
there are more than one of them (and there are very many). Don't
crucify the man for maybe inserting an extraneous "the" until he makes
a less questionable claim to be speaking for everyone. Really...,
who'd be so foolish as to do so? Some of you folks tend to act like
dogs on a lame deer. Pretend civilization.
