help with a system freeze

I'm running kubuntu 6.06 w/ the stock 686 kernel. Every few days the system
freezes and the only way to restore is to restart by unplugging and
rebooting.

I haven't been working on the box when it goes down so I can't be certain
exactly when it stops responding, but most recently I found the following
line in the syslog file repeated about once per minute from the near the last
known time the system was responding until I literally pulled the plug.

localhost modprobe: WARNING: Not loading blacklisted module ipv6

I had previously disabled ipv6 according to the directions on the wiki.

This appears to be the only thing in syslog after the freeze but before the
reboot.

Does anyone know whether this message is a cause or effect of the freeze? If
not what logfile might be helpful in tracing the freeze?

Paul
