I don't think that Matthew is having "an attitude". I think he is making 
a valid and true statement that this is not the sort of "fix" that you 
would expect on an enterprise distribution. In addition, I'll note that 
doing a fresh install, creating a user and deleting ~/.g* will not 
isolate the problem.
