just a warning?

Thanks to all who replied.
My net connection is a verrrrrry slow dialup. But
fairly solid. No problem downloading stuff but much
patience is required. For instance update can take
several hours(what's the typical time?).
Whether I use synaptic or command line I get the
warning. Mostly an annoyance but it makes me wonder if
I'm really enjoying all the benefits of the OS.
Not at my 'buntu box at the moment. I'll take another
look-see later and give yall an up-date if there's any
change.
