All,

Thanks, for the response to my first post.

My bad... not reboots, but ALL the windows I have open and the desktop
session are CLOSED. The display is at the initial login prompt (that was
what was throwing me a curve). I have several tasks that i keep up 24/7
including Firefox and Thunderbird as well as a couple that are local to
my system and a couple that are monitoring other systems on my intranet.
It is a royal pain to have to get them all up and running each time.

I have found something else here apparently the X server is going down,
indicating a problem with APM or at least a problem with the X server.

The /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old reports --

<snip>
(WW) Open APM failed (/dev/apm_bios) (No such file or directory)
(II) Configured Mouse: ps2EnableDataReporting: succeeded

Please consult the The X.Org Foundation support
         at http://wiki.X.Org
 for help.
Please also check the log file at "/var/log/Xorg.0.log" for additional
information.

<snip>

The Xorg.0.log file contains a normal start up sequence and ends where
the above messages begin in Xorg.0.log.old. It contains the same info
except for the following lines as shown by diff --

diff Xorg.0.log Xorg.0.log.old

Cheers,
Jay
